The Southern Piscataquis County Chamber of Commerce is inviting Southern Piscataquis County Regional businesses. organizations and others to join the Chamber�s 2003/ 2004 Chamber Gift Certificate program in time for the upcoming holidays. Chamber Executive Director explained that Chamber Gift Certificate Program is designed to encourage local shopping. The program offers for sales to the general public gift certificates, which then can be taken to participating businesses and exchanged for goods and services. A participating businesses can them redeem the certificates from the Chamber at full value. Last year during the Holiday season the Chamber offered the Gift Certificate program as a pilot program in Dover-Foxcroft The pilot program resulted in over $3.0000.00 certificates being purchased during the 2002 Holiday season said Lyford. In order for a business to register for the program the business must contact the Chamber and pay a ten dollar registration fee, the fee will be used to cover the cost of printing certificates and adverting the certificate program explained Lyford. The program does not officially begin until Thanksgiving weekend, but the Chamber as received commitments for $9,000,00 in presale of certificates said Lyford.
